“Renewal of contract with Real Madrid? I still cannot say anything,” said Ramos
The captain of the Real Madrid football team, Sergio Ramos refused to comment on his future in this team and the fate of his expiring contract with this team.
Sergio Ramos proved his value and impact for the team last night (Tuesday, March 16) by returning to the main squad of Real Madrid. Having been sidelined for several weeks due to injury, he not only managed the Real Madrid defense well in his return but also scored from the penalty spot in his side’s 3-1 win over Atlanta in the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
At the end of the game, Ramos said about changing his team’s game system and its success to advance to the next stage of the competition: “Our goal was to climb with good results and it was achieved. We came on the field intending to win, we wanted to control the rhythm of the game and we created more opportunities to score than the opponent did. This is the only way forward. Ultimately, the result you get depends on your mindset about a game. We were not sure which rudder the opponent was going to start the game with, but we were able to control the game very quickly thanks to the three-man center of our defense. We knew Atlanta was a fast team and could take risks with their speed, but everything went well and they did not threaten our goal.
Speaking about his future at Real Madrid and his contract with the team, which expires at the end of the current season, Ramos said, “Ultimately, every player who has taken care of himself and cared about his progress will reap what he has planted. No one can be judged by his or her date of birth. You always have to play at the highest level and people have to learn to value their performance and efforts. I cannot say anything about the extension of my contract. When there is something to report, I will be the first to announce it.
