In the first half of the game, neither team had a significant advantage over the other, and the good performance of their defenders prevented them from taking a serious position for the opposing team. Statistically, the Lions and Germans did not have much advantage over each other and were equal in the number of positions and shots within the framework, but it was England who had better statistics in possession of the ball.

Goals of English and German football

The first goal of this relatively equal game was scored by Raheem Sterling in the 75th minute with a cross pass from Luke Shaw, following a move in which Jack Grealish and Harry Kane also played a role. 4 minutes before the end of the game, captain Harry Kane scored the second goal for the host with a header from a Grealish pass, so that at the end of the classic battle between the two traditional powers of European football, it would be the lion that would advance to the next stage. On the other hand, the Germans said goodbye to their head coach Joachim Loew with bitter memories of losing to their long-time rival. Euro 2020 is the last tournament that will lead the Germans.

England now have to wait a few hours to know their next opponent, who will be determined at the end of tonight’s match between Sweden and Ukraine.
